Seize the day

Seize the day

Is there more to life than hanging steaks? I took to Mimosa Rocks National Park in the hope that some fresh air and grass between my toes would help provide the answer.
I sat atop a hill a few metres from my tent and watched the world go by. As the whales started breaching close to the horizon, and as an assortment of marsupials drew ever so closer to ransacking my campsite pantry, it occurred to me that my very existence made up a minute part of billions of years of evolution. There I was just another animal who shared a common ancestor with every other animal that had ever lived. My mind boggled further as I then attempted to conceive the sheer magnitude of the number of lives that were being lived at that given moment, each with their own unique storyline. I quickly began to feel rather insignificant, and what a magnificent feeling it was.

The waves kept turning, the birds kept chirping, yet my mind fell quiet. I would be dead before I knew it, and this thing would continue to tick on by without me. I couldn’t help but smile.

Seize the day before you cease to exist,
Tom
