Conquer a mountain a week and you’ll never feel weak. Bounding up steep terrain is a big bang for your buck activity. It gives you the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and work on your booty.

I try to change things up each time I make my way up a mountain. When I feel I deserve a torturous stream of lactic acid pumping through my body, I run up. When I’m looking to channel a more primal state of mind, I get off the the old beaten trail and intuitively navigate my way to the top. Most of the time, however, I simply walk up the man-made path of least adventure. Whichever way you choose to tackle this natural beast, you will always get your blood pumping and your muscles firing. As an added bonus, the small adjustments that you make as you encounter uneven surfaces along the way are fantastic for your joints and core.

What is even more enriching about a hike is the mindset it invokes. Hiking with friends cultivates top notch conversations that often fail to transpire in other social settings. Hiking solo, on the other hand, provides a perfect environment to reflect on and contemplate things that are important to you.

Now what….? Find your closest mountain. Start walking towards it. I don’t care if it takes you a week, don’t stop until you reach the peak!

Cheerio,
Tom
